Update

Not much going on here the last two days, We really needed to take a break yesterday and just went out roaming today.Had a little trouble breathing yesterday so we just hung out here at the house all day trying to get back in shape so we cand go prospecting tomorrow,
We will be heading up above North Bend and My Si tomorrow. The last time we were up there was on Stanley's last trip up here. We did find a couple of pieces of gold so we're hoping to at least match that this time. We eill be taking some pictures and will post them when we come back on Thrusday or there about.
RAining a little today here and sure feels good. Stanley is hiding under the swing cover afraid he might melt while I'm sitting out soaking up the rain and cool temps. He keeps telly me that sugar melts in the rain I have to keep reminding him that so does Sh**

Northwest Trek

We made it to Trek and back. Stan is out relaxing in the recliner and I'm trying to type while I'm leaned back in this chair. Northwest Trek is a really pretty place to go but I forgot how many hills are in that thing. We were pretty well the slowest moving things in that park today. I kind you not, we were going up one hill and I swear to God there was a little girl about two years old and looking like she was just learning to walk who passed us on the hill! We only passed up two beanches the whole time we were there and the only reason we passed thos up was because they were low to the ground and we were afraid that if we got down on them we wouldn't bea able to get back up. Our favorite part was riding around the park on the tram. We got to see lots of stuff and sit on our butts at the same time! I'm beginning to think that if we want to keep hunting we're going to have to get something that's four wheel drive with well padded seats and just drive around the loging roads until we see something to shoot at!
It was an enjoyable trip though and it got us out of the house for awhile. The rest of today and al of tomorrow will be just hanging out here at the house making sure we are both healed up enough for the prospecting trip next week.

Cute aren't they?

Not as cute anymore but good eating!

nice fur and good eating!

I had way more to do with these guys in Alaska than I wanted!

The food I never could find in Alaska

I still try to hunt these

This guy was worth his weight in gold on my trap line in Ak.

This is the food I did find in Ak. Lasted me all winter but after six months I never wanted to taste another piece of moose!!

We took these on the way to the park

My personial devil, cute here but when you spend a winter figthing him over a trap line he quits being cute really quick!

We only got one picture but we spent a whole lot of time sitting on these trying to get our breath back and our backs to quit hurting!! See one animal, find a bench, see another animal, find a bench  etc etc..

Fishing Puget Sound Day 6

Seems like we're battinga thousand here so far. We went up to a great place to do some gold panning and the creek was still to high for us to be able to do anything then we go out ojn Puget Sound to do some crabbing and didn't catch even one crab, not anything we could eat anyway, the little spider crab doesn't count. On top of everything else my brain took a vacation today and I hit the wake from another boat way faster than I should have. It hurt my back and I was sitting on a padded seat, Stanley was sitting in the back of the boat and when we left the water he went a couple of feet in the air and right back down on his butt. He is REALLY hurting right now. It might have been a fun thing forty years ago but it is a little rough today!
Anyway, he did stick it out fishing for the next eight hours. We caught a load of dogfish, fun to catch but worthless and we threw all of them back. We also caught some flounders which we did bring home and are going to fry tonight. Other than me trying to cripple Stanley it wasn't a bad day. Of course any day spent fishing has to be a good one.

Day 5, Ocean Shores

Another disappointing day on the gold front. We searched a lot of beach and drew a complete blank. We must have hit the poor beach because we didn't even find any change! But the weather was great and it was
a really nice day to be wondering around on the beach.

Me searching

Stan combing the beach

Stanley tried phoning for gold but it didn't work

Finding a place to search

It a long way to the water

First prospecting trip

Bad news so far on the gold prospecting. We went up to a really pretty place where I am sure there is gold. The bad news is that the creek is still way to high for us to be able to get down to the gravel beds. I would give anything to have a dredge right now because that the only way we would be able to work this creek. Another thing we found out is we not nearly as good at climbing up and down steep banks as we used to be, who would have thought it??? As you can see from the pictures it is a long way down to the creek.
We still had a lot of fun just sitting around the camp fire and reminiscing about how well we used to be able to climb and wishing we still could. Even though we weren't able to do any gold panning this is a really pretty spot to camp.
Relaxing by the fire

Half way down to the creek. I ran out of trail down tot he water and about killed myself getting back to the top.

There's gold in those waters! All we had to do was figure a way to get down there and get it.

This is the log that fell across the creek. It was fun walking across it and there are pretty views up and down the creek but there is no way to get down to the water. There is a game trail at the other end where we found bear tracks.

This is one of the trees next to the camp. Bet it would make a lot of toothpick !

Stanley has the pan and the desire he's just trying to figure out how to make both work.both

He's getting closer but all the good gravel is under that water.

Tomorrow we're going down to Ocean Shores and comb the beach with the metal detectors for awhile and plan our next trip. We will be going bad tot eh place close to North Bend where we found  some gold the last time Stanley was up. We're hoping to have better luck there
